We love bringing our educational workshops to schools, Scouts and Guides and even holiday clubs. Workshops in schools are interactive and engaging and, as well as looking at the history and science of chocolate, the children get to also focus on exercising creativity and concentration as they work with chocolate to gain new skills.
All workshops begin with an introduction to chocolate including its fascinating history and the science behind how it is made. Everyone has the chance to handle real cocoa pods and nibble on the cocoa beans to help them understand the process cocoa goes through before becoming a chocolate bar. We then enjoy a fun quiz to test our newfound knowledge!
Every child makes their own chocolatey creation, which they get to take home at the end of the workshop. We work with each individual school to understand your theme and what children make can be tailored accordingly. Recent examples include creating fabulous lollies where the children were reading Charlie and The Chocolate Factory and chocolate Mayan masks where the theme was Mayan culture and the the Mayans love of Cacao!
Our workshops are tailored to the ages of the children and link in with the school curriculum across subjects including Geography, English, History and the environment.
Chocolate making workshops are a unique cross-curricular experience to bring to your school and something that your children will talk about for weeks afterwards.
We run the workshops at schools and venues to save you travel time and costs and we will work with teachers to fit around lessons and time schedules. All of our workshop leaders are DBS checked and we bring our own PAT tested equipment, so all teachers need to do is turn up with their class!
If you have any specific ideas for a chocolate workshop in your school, please contact us. We love talking all things chocolate.
Vicki ran a chocolate workshop for our Cubs (aged between 8-10 1/2). It was brilliant, both educational and fun. It kept them interested and they loved making their chocolate lollipops with choices of chocolate, toppings and bag to take it home in. Vicki was so helpful, patient and understood exactly what we needed, would most define recommend. Thank you so much for a fabulous fun evening.
